Job summary

A national sports organization is looking for an Apprentice in Corporate Affairs to support event planning and community engagement initiatives. You will manage correspondence and provide administrative support for public affairs functions. Ideal candidates will have an interest in politics and community service. This apprenticeship offers a two-year fixed-term contract with study towards a Level 3 Business Administration qualification. Applications are encouraged from Brent residents.

Overview

In this exciting role you will support the team in delivering events and engagement opportunities for The FA's Corporate Affairs stakeholders, and support in the delivery of CSR programmes in Brent and Burton. You will manage enquiries to CSR and PA teams, ensuring stakeholders receive timely responses and providing valuable administrative support for the public affairs team and the busy Public Affairs and CSR functions. You will be employed on a two year fixed term contract and will study towards a Level 3 Business Administration qualification with CMS Vocational Training.

Duties
  • Support the Senior External Affairs Manager, delivering visits for Ministers, Shadow Ministers and parliamentarians to showcase The FA's work (e.g., grassroots football facilities or girls' football programmes in schools).
  • Support/deliver FA events for political stakeholders (e.g., policy roundtables, receptions in Parliament, match screenings during international tournaments, and trophy photo opportunities).
  • Assist with event day administration, such as arranging tickets for stakeholders.
  • Support the CSR Manager with coordinating and delivering community engagement events (e.g., the annual community pitch day at Wembley Stadium).
  • Assist with event day administration, such as arranging tickets for the community.
  • Support the delivery of The FA's Community Club, draft newsletters and arrange community offers.
  • Support the delivery of Community Engagement days at England team training sessions.
  • Manage correspondence with MPs and other stakeholders; gather content from relevant FA staff and draft responses.
  • Support the Corporate Affairs team's administration.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing are maintained.
  • Execute additional tasks as required to meet The FA's changing priorities.
Essential criteria – Eligibility
  • Live within England and have lived within the UK for the last 3 consecutive years.
  • Must not be in full time education at the start of the apprenticeship.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • If aged 16-18, you will need to have maths and English at grade 4/C and hold certification for this; if not, you will need to sit Functional Skills Level 2 as part of the programme.
  • Must not hold a similar or higher qualification in the same area of study.
Required Experience and Skills
  • This is a developmental opportunity; prior CSR or Public Affairs experience is not required.
  • Interest in politics and community engagement, e.g., volunteering in these areas.
  • Organisational and project management skills.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office and experience with Excel.
  • Letter drafting skills.
  • Experience creating presentations and public speaking.
  • Basic health and safety knowledge.
