Company Overview

We are working with a leading Tier 1 contractor specialising in the delivery of mission-critical and hyperscale data centre projects across the UK and Europe. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and innovative delivery, they leverage modern construction techniques, including Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA), to deliver large-scale CSA (Civil, Structural, and Architectural) and MEP packages to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Pre-Construction Manager to oversee the CSA and DfMA strategy during the bid and pre-construction phase of major data centre projects. This role will focus on managing all aspects of offsite manufacturing and modular integration, working closely with design teams, the supply chain, and the project delivery team to ensure a seamless transition from design through to site delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Review tender documents to extract CSA package and DfMA requirements in line with specifications and drawings.

Interrogate 3D models (Stage 3 onwards) to identify opportunities for DfMA adoption.

Work with internal design teams to develop 2D drawings for single and multi-service modules based on 3D spatial fit.

Produce detailed scopes of work for the DfMA supply chain

Issue complete DfMA tender packages to the supply chain and manage RFIs and clarifications.

Visit suppliers to resolve queries, assess factory capability (capacity, H&S, turnover, and set-up), and provide feedback.

Set delivery return dates and agree programme durations for offsite manufacture in alignment with the main construction programme (PCSA and pre-construction periods).

Commercially review and level DfMA proposals, making recommendations to the Bid and Estimating teams.

Conduct regular visits to supplier facilities to monitor manufacturing processes and production quality.

Attend site to oversee module deliveries, ensuring quality standards and correct offloading procedures are met.

Collaborate with project teams on-site to integrate DfMA elements seamlessly within the building fabric.

Candidate Profile

Proven experience as a Pre-Construction Manager, Design Manager, or Project Manager within CSA packages on mission-critical/data centre projects.

Strong understanding of DfMA, modular construction, and offsite manufacturing.

Skilled in interrogating 3D models (Navisworks) and coordinating with design teams to develop modular solutions.

Experience managing and assessing a diverse DfMA supply chain, including commercial evaluations and capability scoring.

Excellent knowledge of CSA package delivery, from pre-construction through to site integration.

Strong commercial awareness with experience supporting bid and estimating teams.

Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence both internal teams and external suppliers.
