The MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS) at Imperial College London invites applications for a Research Technician – Cryo‑EM / Structural Biology in the DNA Motors group led by Professor Luis Aragon. This 12‑month fixed‑term, full‑time post is based in Hammersmith, London, and supports translational cryo‑EM work on cohesin/SMC complexes and drug discovery efforts.

You will express and purify STAG1 and related SMC complexes, prepare cryo‑EM grids, collect data, and carry out single‑particle

Qualifications

  • PhD in structural biology, biochemistry or closely related field with a cryo‑EM focus (or Masters with equivalent experience)

Responsibilities

  • Express and purify STAG1 and cohesin complexes for structural studies
  • Prepare and screen cryo‑EM grids; collect data
  • Perform single‑particle image processing and 3D reconstruction
  • Determine structures of STAG1/cohesin with screening hits
  • Contribute to hit validation with biochemical/biophysical assays
  • Communicate structural results to guide compound design with partners
  • Attend meetings and contribute to write‑ups/publications
