Job summary

City of Bristol College invites applications for a Research Associate/Senior Research Associate in in-situ structural Cell Biology. The role focuses on developing improved high pressure freezing methods for cryo-preservation, enabling imaging of cryo-preserved samples in their native state.

You will perform EM experiments (TEM and SEM), develop workflows, and collaborate with the Verkade group, with open-ended contract funding until 31/08/2028 and 100% time.

Qualifications

• You should have a BSc or equivalent in a relevant field, plus experience, or significant relevant work experience.
• A PhD or near completion, or equivalent research experience in an academic, industrial or clinical setting.
• Experimental experience and knowledge of Biomedical Electron Microscopy.
• Experience with biological sample preparation using high pressure freezing is highly desirable.
• Proven planning and organising skills with ability to meet deadlines and work autonomously.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the effective execution of EM experiments performed as part of the research carried out in the Verkade research group.
• Develop and maintain familiarity with the project aims and an awareness of the research area.
• Collate and report on research or project outputs, compiling initial versions of communications and reports.
• Plan and organise own work activities and support others to ensure deadlines are met.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate resources and schedules.
