Job summary

Government Recruitment Service in Swansea is seeking a Cross Systems Manager to lead the DVSA DTCS and CPC Systems team and coordinate multiple major business systems through a transition to the Driver Services Platform (DSP). The role involves line management, stakeholder liaison, and ensuring system performance and governance are compliant with the GDS service manual.

Responsibilities

  • Alongside the Business Systems Managers, manage the business systems to ensure that they provide our stakeholders and customers with the required services.
  • Monitor system performance and use to identify any issues and define and implement solutions, attend the SRM.
  • Ensure performance data/information is updated internally and at Gov.UK.
  • Act as the system owner within formal project governance for a level of major and minor developments to these systems.
  • Work with Digital and Data, Policy, Operations and Service and other Product Managers within an Agile framework to deliver changes where frontend systems meet user needs and support the GDS service manual.
  • Responsible for test strategy for business systems. Ensure different types of testing are employed as appropriate (from external users out to performance and/or pen tests).
  • Act as the team’s point of contact, when the Head of Business Systems is not available, to provide and ensure that contributions (directly provided or gained from other team members) to briefings, comms, FoIs etc. are provided to time.
  • Support the management, develop of staff to ensure they are trained with the skills required.

Job description

The role holder is responsible for effective performance and continuous development of a number of DVSA’s major business systems, including the Driving Test Control System, Driver CPC Recording and Evidencing Systems and core areas of the Testing and Registration System.

The role holder manages, develops and leads the DTCS and CPC Systems team in conjunction with the Business Systems manager, matrix manages the associate the DTCS and CPC systems manager and across the Business Systems team to ensure all individuals develop the skills required to support all operational systems. They will also support services delivered via our online practical test booking portals.

The systems supported by the Business Systems team are being replaced by our Driver Services Platform (DSP) project and so roles within the team will be impacted as DSP starts to deliver those replacement systems.
