To work together with the Superintendent radiographer to ensure the provision of a high-quality service by the Imaging department, especially cross-sectional imaging CT & MRI at the Harefield Hospital. 85% of our work is providing cardio-thoracic scans to a busy primary angioplasty and advanced heart failure/ cardio thoracic transplant centre.

You will need to have experience in either cardiac CT or MRI, ideally both and will participate in the on call out of hours service. You would gain further experience in CT and MRI and will be participating in the extended working day across both modalities. Further details and conditions will be discussed during the interview.

Both part time and full-time applications are welcome.

The post holder will be required to work in the Imaging Department and participate in the provision of a 24-hr on-call CT service in accordance with the procedures laid down by the Head of the Department.

To be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of all staff in the Imaging Department”.

Imaging department has 2 CT scanners and 2 MRI Scanner performing variety of highly specialised cardio-thoracic imaging.

Give reassurance to patients undergoing examinations, explaining where necessary what is involved.

To communicate complex and sensitive information to patients, overcoming any barriers to understand.

Be able to work as part of a team.

Being able if required to advise physicians during procedures, of best imaging and positioning.

To set and maintain standards of appearance and professional attitude at all times.

Be competent in the use of all CT and MRI equipment.

Be able to work competently, single handily during out of hours duties

To participate in the extended and out of hours duty rota, covering a 24hr service 7 days a week

To have full knowledge and understanding of the statutory IR(ME)R, IRR17 regulations.

To be up to date on all relevant Trust Policies and Procedures and to follow/implement advice.

Participate in departmental audit and clinical research.

Maintain and manage the day-to-day work load / demand in CT/MRI

Be able to use all forms of data recording and restoration eg: PACS, IEP, patient information systems etc.

Maintain the confidentiality of patient information in accordance with data the protection act.

To use computerised Quantitative Coronary and Ventricular Analysis to advise the Cardiologist on size of balloon, stent and choice of catheter to be used during procedures.

Health & Safety

Smoking

It is the policy of Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals Group that all people who work for the Trust or, while on its premises, obtain treatment or visit the Trust in any capacity, do so without exposure to tobacco smoke, and so smoking of cigarettes and E-cigarettes is not allowed anywhere on any Trust premises.

The Trust aims to provide appropriate support, in partnership with local Occupational Health and Community Services, to ensure that Trust staff and patients can access practical help and support in their attempts to stop smoking.

This policy is based on clear evidence that, in addition to the health risks taken by smokers themselves, others who breathe in exhaled tobacco smoke (passive smokers) have increased risk of disease.

NHS Estates have notified all NHS agencies that E-Cigarettes and the charging there of are not permitted within any Trust property (including accommodation).

Diversity

Risk management

All staff have a responsibility to report all clinical and non-clinical accidents or incidents promptly and, when requested, to co-operate with any investigation undertaken.

Conflict of interests

You may not without the consent of the Trust engage in any outside employment. In accordance with the Trust’s Conflict of Interest policy, you must declare to your manager all private interests which could potentially result in personal gain as a consequence of your employment in the Trust. Interests that might appear to be in conflict should also be declared to your manager.

In addition, the NHS Code of Conduct and Standards of Business Conduct for NHS Staff (HSG 93/5) requires you to declare all situations where you or a close relative or associate has a controlling interest in a business (such as a private company, public organisation or other NHS voluntary organisation) or in any activity which may compete for any NHS contracts to supply goods or services to the Trust. You must therefore register such interests with the Trust, either on appointment or subsequently whenever such interests are gained. You should not engage in such interests without the written consent of the Trust, which will not be unreasonably

withheld. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are not placed in a position that may give rise to a conflict between your private interest and your NHS duties.
