Job description

Role Introduction / Overview:

The United Kingdom & Middle East and Africa (UK and MEA) Cross-disciplinary Controls Lead role is a senior strategic professional within Citi’s Global Risk and Control organisation, with direct reporting line to Markets and International in-Business Risk & Control Group Manager (Managing Director). It is an individual contributor role supporting risk and control initiatives regarding financial and local regulatory reporting for International Chief Financial Officer (CFO) & Controller, particularly overseeing UK and MEA cluster and supporting respective cluster CFOs & Controllers. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Developed diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence, convince and work as partner with colleagues in the Risk & Control & Controller organisation, primarily.

Some of the key responsibilities in the role:

  • Providing oversight and support on control design, execution, monitoring and testing as well as ensuring consistent governance and control framework for the aforementioned scope and geography.
  • Serve as a trusted control advisor who promote and assist in embedding strong internal controls over financial reporting across clusters in-scope, and is involved in corporate level control programs (MCA – Manager’s Control Assessment, FIM – Finance Issue Management Framework)
  • Deliver timely, accurate and insightful control analytics to identify operating control deficiencies and manage them to resolution via proper attention to remediation efforts; and educate and liaise with process owners to strengthen the control environment to ensure risks are mitigated either completely or to an acceptable level.

What We'll Need From You:

  • Significant experience in financial services / Risk & Control field / Audit fields.
  • CPA or ACCA equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree required, certification or Master’s degree in relevant field a plus.
  • Exposure to regulatory reporting and compliance environment
  • Financial products knowledge is an advantage
  • Good understanding of culture, ethical conduct, governance, risk management and control frameworks in leading international organizations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Advanced / Fluent English knowledge
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on advanced MS Excel, MS PowerPoint

Skills / Competences:

  • Self-motivated and detail oriented, with outstanding relationship building, management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent management presentation skills (PowerPoint, Project plan and Status reporting, Executive presence).
  • Excellent issue management and negotiation skills. Ability to influence and initiate change.
  • Stakeholder management: strong interpersonal skills are needed to be able to deal with a range of senior/ junior staff across several disciplines and across a wide range of countries.
