Job summary

Biographica is seeking a Crop Transformation Scientist to lead development and application of advanced crop transformation and genome editing methods in Harpenden, UK. You will validate gene targets in planta, bridging ML predictions with biological reality through hands-on wet-lab work that advances the next generation of agriculture.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD or BSc in Plant Biology or Biotechnology with extensive tissue culture and genetic transformation experience, and strong DNA

Qualifications

  • PhD or BSc in Plant Biology or Biotechnology is required.
  • Hands-on experience in crop tissue culture and genetic transformation is essential.
  • Proficiency in DNA vector design, molecular cloning and high-throughput molecular analysis of transgenic plants.
  • Strong communication skills to translate findings to ML engineers and bioinformaticians.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute complex experiments for gene target validation in planta.
  • Establish and optimize transformation and genome editing methods.
  • Conduct high-throughput genotyping and assemble DNA constructs for edited lines.
