We are seeking a Crop Research Scientist to lead the translation of cutting-edge scientific research into practical, real-world applications. This role will involve strategic planning, securing research funding, leading collaborative projects with farmers and academic institutions, and effectively communicating impactful scientific insights. With a strong foundation in fieldwork and data analysis, you will bring a passion for advancing sustainable agriculture and a talent for turning innovation into action.

This role 5 days per week on site at our Nocton site with travel to other sites where required.

Requirements

  • Design, adopt and test new techniques to enhance plant resilience and productivity under varying conditions.
  • Implementing plot and field scale trials to evaluate crop management practices.
  • Analysing crop, soil and environmental data to extract key messages for improving crop productivity and sustainability.
  • Deliver detailed presentations to clearly communicate research findings to stakeholders.
  • Developing your skills and knowledge in line with advancements in agronomy, crop science, and sustainable agriculture practices.
  • Keeping abreast of new scientific developments and future trends and sharing knowledge within Dyson Farming, helping the team to identify new areas to explore.
  • Creating digital publications to engage with stakeholders through a range of media formats.
  • Enhancing the scientific credibility of our content across multiple platforms, improving engagement and trust with our audience.
  • Working in a fast-paced, agile environment, taking a flexible approach, regularly switching gears between independent projects and collaborative efforts.

Person Specification

  • Constantly learning, pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone and keeping pace with our fast-moving research team.
  • Qualified, with a Master's or Ph.D. in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science or a related field.
  • Experienced, having a strong track record of conducting plant physiological research with a focus on crop management for growers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship.
  • Personable, you need to engage with a wide range of external stakeholders whilst building good working relationships with the wider Dyson Farming team, gaining the support required to meet your deadlines.
