Job description

**CROP RESEARCH ASSISTANT**

**PERMANENT ROLE**

**TELFORD LOCATION – TRANSPORT ESSENTIAL**

Duties:

  • To execute research & development activities on a range of agricultural crops in support to Research Agronomists
  • Conduct of R&D activities, planting, sampling, assessment, recording, analysing, harvesting of crop commodities
  • Working on field and glasshouse studies
  • Preparation and handling of seed stocks and chemical stocks for maintenance and treatments on field studies
  • Support the Research Agronomist with the effective execution and coordination of all research activities in your area of operations
  • Maintaining good communications with local team and regional
  • Staying up to date with and working within relevant field methodologies
  • Staying up to date with developments in agricultural best practices and acting as a point of contact for any technical queries
  • Ensure safe and compliant use and storage of all chemical products by maintaining a zero tolerance for any contaminations at and around the site
  • Analysing and presentation of data utilising ARM software
  • Ensure that all activities at the site are compliant with corporate rules and that a safe working environment

Experience:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role (ESSENTIAL)
  • Agriculture, Agronomy, Life science or similar (BSc, equivalent or higher)
  • PA1/PA6 – NPTC Certificate
  • Full UK Drivers Licence
  • Plant Pathology, entomology and Fungal biology research
  • Handling and development of pathogens for inoculation, desirable
  • Experience and use of Agricultural machinery a bonus
  • PA2, PA11, PA9, PA4 desirable, but training can be offered
  • BASIS qualification in Crop Protection
