Agricultural Recruitment Specialists Ltd is seeking an experienced Crop Manager for a Cambridgeshire-based fresh produce business. You will oversee crop production from planning to harvest, manage plant supply, coordinate with agronomists and external partners, and lead a production team to deliver high yields and quality.

You should have proven experience in crop planning, yield forecasting, and a good grasp of agronomy, soil health and crop protection.

Qualifications

• Experience managing commercial crops, including crop planning, establishment and yield forecasting.
• Sound knowledge of agronomy, irrigation, soil health and crop protection.
• Experience working with agronomists, plant suppliers and external growing partners.
• Strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage teams, budgets and competing priorities.
• Understanding of agricultural assurance standards, with a practical approach to maintaining crop quality and improving performance.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of crop production.
• A degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or a related subject would be beneficial. BASIS or FACTS qualifications and experience with precision farming or sustainable growing practices would also be advantageous

Responsabilités

• Planning crop rotations, planting programmes and seasonal production schedules
• Coordinating plant supply and maintaining relationships with external growers and suppliers
• Monitoring crop establishment, development, health and overall performance
• Working with agronomists on crop nutrition, irrigation and crop protection
• Forecasting yields, assessing crop maturity and planning harvest requirements
• Managing crop inputs, budgets and production costs
• Leading and supporting the planting team
• Ensuring compliance with relevant quality assurance and customer standards
• Identifying ways to improve yields, productivity, sustainability and growing practices
