Criticality Safety Discipline Lead, Reading

We are recruiting for a Criticality Safety Discipline Lead to join us permanently on major projects.

Purpose and Scope:

The Discipline Lead is responsible for developing core nuclear criticality modelling and assessment capabilities, supporting programmes, projects, and Amentum UK’s growth.

Responsibilities:
  • Act in criticality roles for project support and assist programme and project criticality leads.
  • Support capability development, resource strategies, recruitment, and competence building.
  • Develop and review management and technical arrangements for delivery.
  • Coordinate assessment and analysis delivery, interfacing with engineering, project management, and documentation teams.
  • Advise leadership on regulatory compliance, standards, and guidance.
  • Support safety case assurance and interact with regulators and safety committees.
  • Support business development efforts as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience in nuclear fire safety and safety assessments.
  • Knowledge of UK nuclear site licensing, safety principles, and regulatory guidance.
  • Experience managing staff and contractors.
  • Familiarity with nuclear hazard identification and analytical tools.
  • Ability to obtain and retain Security Clearance and Developed Vetting.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and report-writing skills.
  • Experience with safety cases in civil reactors and defence sectors.
  • Knowledge of UK nuclear new build projects and international safety assessments.
  • Stakeholder management and mentoring skills.
