Job summary

Equinix in Manchester is seeking an experienced shift engineer to join our operations team. You will maintain critical data centre infrastructure, perform preventative and corrective maintenance, and support incident response and on-site projects.

Qualifications

  • ONC/BTEC/NVQ in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in data centre or critical environments is beneficial.
  • Strong knowledge of UPS, generators, BMS, chillers and life safety systems; HV switching experience preferred.
  • Self-motivated, flexible and able to work independently or with a team.

Responsibilities

  • Facility Infrastructure Maintenance: Ensure the seamless operation of the facility infrastructure through diligent maintenance practices.
  • Site Inspections & Monitoring: Conduct regular site inspections and monitor building and data centre alarms to ensure optimal performance.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Oversee and execute hands-on preventative maintenance on site infrastructure, either directly or through vendor management, including managing the permit to work system (UPS, generators, BMS, chillers, and life safety systems; HV switching experience preferred).
  • Repairs & Corrective Maintenance: Perform and manage repairs and corrective maintenance on critical equipment to maintain uninterrupted service.
  • Planned Maintenance: Prepare and execute planned maintenance activities to ensure the reliability of our infrastructure.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive site logs and data records, including MOPs and scripts.
  • Incident Response: Assist senior staff in responding to on-site incidents and take initiative in handling basic incidents based on your expertise.
  • Work Requests & Installations: Complete basic work requests and circuit installations efficiently.
  • Infrastructure Projects: Participate actively in ongoing infrastructure projects to enhance our facilities.
  • Works Projects: Execute works projects to improve site functionality.

Job Summary
