Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) invites applications from suitably qualified nurses to join the Intensive Care Unit/High Dependency team at Glasgow Royal Infirmary for a 12-month competency-based programme. You will deliver critical care, gain extensive CPD, and pursue further professional development with funded courses.

Applicants must hold NMC registration, demonstrate CPD and be able to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• First or Second Level Registered Nurse with current professional registration.
• Evidence of continual professional development (CPD) and ongoing learning.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients, relatives and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, effective and evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients within the Critical Care environment.
• Assess patient needs and plan, implement and evaluate individualised programmes of care.
• Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
• Maintain accurate patient records in accordance with NMC standards and local policies.
• Provide support, reassurance and effective communication to patients, families and carers.
• Contribute to education, audit, research activities and the development of learners within the clinical area.
• Support the effective use and management of equipment, supplies and resources within the department.
