Teaching Assistant – Aspiring Youth Criminal Justice Worker - Mental Health - Dorking

Would you like to work with young people who need support with their social, emotional, and mental health? Do you aspire to work in youth criminal justice? If so, then this role is not to be missed.

The School: Based near Dorking, providing support for children aged 9-16 with learning and behavioural needs due to social, emotional, and mental health challenges. All students have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) detailing their specific needs. The school offers a safe environment for children suffering from high anxiety levels, which can affect focus and behaviour. They also provide therapies like occupational therapy, physiotherapy, music, speech, and language therapies, integrated with the curriculum to support physical and emotional needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing assistance and supervision for children's behaviour and supporting their learning inside and outside the classroom
  • Working with individuals or small groups to encourage social skills and support individual needs
  • Helping to build confidence and motivation
  • Participating in team meetings and training
  • Maintaining progress records

Requirements include:

  • An undergraduate degree, preferably in Psychology or Criminology
  • Knowledge or interest in various learning and behavioural needs
  • Good education in English and Maths; A Levels preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a caring attitude

Summary:

  • Roles: Youth Criminal Justice, Learning Mentor, Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant
  • Rate: £83 to £90 daily (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm)
