Criminal Solicitor/Defence Solicitor

Brighton & Hove (East Sussex)

Hybrid Working (3 days at home/2 days in office)

Are you a skilled and passionate Criminal Defence Solicitor ready to take your career to the next level? Whether you are newly qualified (NQ) or have up to 10+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE), this is an exceptional opportunity to join a growing and dynamic Criminal Defence team based in Hove.

The Role:

This position involves managing your own caseload, with support from an experienced and collaborative team. The department handles a wide range of private criminal defence matters, including driving offences, violent and sexual offences, drug offences, investigations, fraud cases and more.

Key Responsibilities:

• Taking ownership of a varied caseload across a broad spectrum of criminal defence matters
• Delivering exceptional client care and handling relationships with professionalism and empathy
• Contributing to the team's growth through business development activities
• Ensuring autonomy in your role to meet billing targets and deliver outstanding results

You Will:

• Be a qualified Solicitor with experience in private criminal defence work, either exclusively or alongside legal aid matters (please note, this role does not involve legal aid cases)
• Have strong technical knowledge and a proactive, results-driven mindset
• Exhibit excellent client-handling, communication, and organisational skills
• Be enthusiastic about business development and contributing to the growth of the team
• Hold a full, clean driving licence and be willing to travel across Sussex and the South East
