Criminal Defence Solicitor – Exciting Opportunity in Brighton & Hove

Are you a skilled and passionate Criminal Defence Solicitor ready to take your career to the next level? Whether you are newly qualified (NQ) or have up to 10+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE), this is an exceptional opportunity to join a growing and dynamic Criminal Defence team based in Hove.

The Role

This position involves managing your own caseload, with support from an experienced and collaborative team. The department handles a wide range of private criminal defence matters, including driving offences, violent and sexual offences, drug offences, investigations, fraud cases, and more.

Key Responsibilities

1. Taking ownership of a varied caseload across a broad spectrum of criminal defence matters
2. Delivering exceptional client care and handling relationships with professionalism and empathy
3. Contributing to the team's growth through business development activities
4. Ensuring autonomy in your role to meet billing targets and deliver outstanding results

Ideal Candidate

1. Be a qualified Solicitor with experience in private criminal defence work, either exclusively or alongside legal aid matters (please note, this role does not involve legal aid cases)
2. Have strong technical knowledge and a proactive, results-driven mindset
3. Exhibit excellent client-handling, communication, and organisational skills
4. Be enthusiastic about business development and contributing to the growth of the team
5. Hold a full, clean driving licence and be willing to travel across Sussex and the South East
