Job summary

A leading recruitment agency seeks a Criminal Justice Practitioner to support women under Community Orders in Birmingham. You'll manage a caseload, provide outreach, and help women progress with a strength-based approach. Essential qualifications include a relevant degree and experience in complex issues. This temporary position offers £18 - £22 per hour with occasional out-of-hours work.

Job description

We have a current opportunity for a Criminal Justice Practitioner. The position will be based in Birmingham; however, travel to HMP Foston / Drake Hall will be a necessary part of the role. For further information about this position, please apply.

Job Details
  • Hours: Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:00 (occasional out-of-hours work may be required)
  • Hourly Rate: £18 - £22 per hour (Umbrella)
  • Duration: Temporary ongoing
  • Location: Birmingham

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of women under Community Orders or on licence after release from prison.
  • Support women in identifying their needs and help them progress using a strength-based, trauma-informed approach to reduce reoffending.
  • Provide flexible outreach support to women who may be reluctant to engage or need extra support to comply with Court/Prison Licence requirements, reducing breaches or custody recalls.
  • Escort individuals to appointments, acting as an advocate when necessary.
  • Develop, review, and monitor support plans with women, enhancing their personal strengths and social networks.
Essential Experience
  • Relevant degree or professional qualification (NVQ level 4 minimum) in a related field (e.g., Criminology, Probation, Healthcare, Social Work, or equivalent overseas qualification).
  • Level 1 Prison Clearance - ESSENTIAL
  • Experience in providing holistic one-to-one support to vulnerable women with complex issues, including trauma.
  • Experience managing a caseload with regular interventions and reviews.
  • Good understanding of domestic abuse, safeguarding, self-harm, and suicide prevention.
