Criminal Justice Engagement and Recovery Worker

Working hours: Monday-Friday 9:15am-5:15pm with occasional weekend work

Location: Base location is Pelican House, Bradford, BD1 5BA. You will be required to work from probation offices and police stations.

About the role...

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Criminal Justice Engagement and Recovery Worker to join our team. The role involves working with individuals within the criminal justice system to increase engagement with treatment and recovery through high-quality, evidence-based interventions.

You will engage with service users across Custody Suites, Prisons, and Probation services, facilitating harm reduction initiatives, promoting visible recovery, and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to achieve positive outcomes. Your focus will be on those difficult to engage, often stuck in the criminal justice system, aiming to reduce drug and alcohol-related harm, build recovery capital, and ensure continuity of care through scheduled appointments and partnership working.

Main duties will include:

  • Providing effective brief interventions to individuals within the criminal justice system
  • Engaging hard-to-reach service users into treatment
  • Delivering group and recovery sessions at various locations such as probation offices, prisons, and NVB buildings, including mutual aid and SMART
  • Providing harm minimisation to reduce risks for people using substances
  • Supporting service users in managing challenges after release from custody or prison
  • Signposting individuals to local services and empowering community connections
  • Promoting recovery and hope among service users
  • Collaborating with partner agencies and stakeholders to address barriers to access
  • Empowering service users to sustain long-term recovery
  • Ensuring effective communication with all involved in the care of service users

About you...

Essential criteria:

  • A driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential

  • Basic knowledge of the criminal justice system
