Job description

Sacco Mann are working on an opportunity for a Criminal Defence Solicitor to join a specialist criminal firm based in Newcastle. The firm focuses exclusively on criminal law acting for clients across the Northeast of England. You will ideally have Duty Solicitor status however, this is not essential.

The Role

You will be handling a varied and dynamic caseload comprising of a variety of criminal matters from road traffic offences to the most serious crimes, both private and legal aid with a heavy focus on legal aid work. This will involve police station work, and regular attendance at crown and magistrate's court.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing your own varied caseload of criminal matters
• Attendance at police station including assisting during police interviews
• Crown and Magistrate's court attendance
• Assisting with appeals
• Taking witness statements

About You

• Qualified Solicitor with previous experience of running your own criminal defence caseload from start to finish
• Experience as a Duty solicitor and police station accreditation would be desirable, but not essential
• Excellent client communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
