Criminal Solicitor – 1–3 Years PQE
Location: Margate and/or Bromley
Salary: £43,000 - £68,000 (DOE)
This Legal 500 firm is seeking a Criminal Solicitor to join its highly respected Crime Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic, multi-service firm with a national reputation for championing justice and defending civil liberties.
If you’re a Criminal Solicitor with 1–3 years' PQE, passionate about criminal defence, and looking to work in a supportive, forward-thinking environment, this role offers the chance to make a real difference—both in the courtroom and to your career.
The Role:As a Criminal Solicitor, you will handle a diverse and challenging caseload, representing clients across Kent. You will attend courts and police stations—including in Medway, Maidstone, Margate, and Folkestone—delivering expert legal support throughout every stage of the criminal justice process.
Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a broad caseload of criminal defence matters, including theft, assault, drug offences, and more
• Represent clients in Magistrates’ Court and conduct trials independently
• Attend police stations and advise clients under investigation
• Deliver expert legal advice and high-quality client care
• Prepare and present cases with confidence and clarity
• Maintain accurate, organised legal files and documentation
• Collaborate effectively with barristers, colleagues, and external professionals

The Ideal Candidate:To thrive as a Criminal Solicitor in this role, you will need:

• 1–3 years’ PQE in criminal defence
• A solid understanding of criminal law and court procedures
• Strong advocacy and negotiation skills
• The ability to manage your caseload independently and effectively
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Duty solicitor status (or be working towards accreditation)
• A commitment to access to justice and outstanding client service
