Criminal Solicitor - Position Overview:

• Work across all aspects of criminal law, from advisory work and police stations through to the Court of Appeal

Key Responsibilities of the Criminal Solicitor:

• Handling all aspects of criminal law, from advisory work to proceedings in the Court of Appeal and all stages in between
• Attending and advising clients at police stations
• Conducting advocacy and developing advocacy skills
• Providing quality advice to clients and demonstrating the highest standards of client care
• Organising your own workload and meeting deadlines
• Working flexibly as part of the criminal department

Requirements of the Criminal Solicitor:

• Qualified Solicitor, ideally as a Duty Solicitor (training and support provided to the right candidate if not already qualified)
• An experienced advocate, or someone with the enthusiasm to develop advocacy skills
• A first-rate knowledge of criminal law and procedure
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
• The ability to organise work and meet deadlines, with good IT skills
