Job summary

William James Recruitment is assisting a respected UK law firm in Manchester to recruit a Crime and Regulatory Solicitor. You will handle a varied caseload in criminal, regulatory and enforcement work, advising organisations and public bodies on investigations and regulatory proceedings.

The role provides exposure to challenging cases, advocacy opportunities and a clear path for progression. The candidate will be a qualified solicitor with 2–5 years' PQE, comfortable managing their own caseload

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor with 2–5 years' PQE in criminal/regulatory/enforcement law.
• Experience managing own caseload with supervision.
• Court advocacy in Magistrates' Court; Crown Court experience is advantageous.
• Strong drafting, analytical and case-management skills.
• Commercially aware with a client-focused, collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of criminal, regulatory and enforcement matters.
• Advise clients throughout investigations, enforcement proceedings and prosecutions.
• Review documentary evidence and assist with complex investigations.
• Take witness statements and conduct interviews under caution where appropriate.
• Prepare cases for hearings and liaise with regulators and investigators.
• Undertake advocacy in the Magistrates' Court and Crown Court where appropriate.
• Advise clients on evidence, regulator engagement, interviews under caution and plea options.
• Develop practical case strategies and provide commercially focused advice.
• Manage matters from initial instruction through to conclusion, meeting deadlines and client requirements.
• Work with colleagues on complex, high-profile matters.
• Support and supervise junior lawyers, trainees and paralegals as needed.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development.
