Job Description:

Role Overview
We have been instructed by a prestigious legal firm to assist in finding an assistant lawyer to work closely with a key Partner, focusing on criminal regulatory and inquest work. The successful candidate will play an instrumental role in handling a range of cases including health and safety, environmental, motor, food, fire, and product safety, often for corporate clients.

Candidate Profile/Experience Needed
We are seeking a qualified lawyer (Solicitor or Barrister) with a background in regulatory or inquest work, either during training or post-qualification. The successful candidate must possess:

  • Rights of audience in the Magistrates’ and Coroner’s Court.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in sensitive client interactions.
  • Confidence in handling complex legal matters, including preparing legal bundles, liaising with experts, and attending trials.
  • Ability to contribute to business development through training, networking, and mentoring.
  • A full clean driving license and knowledge of criminal law and procedures are preferred.

What’s on Offer?
This role offers a unique opportunity to work within a dynamic team, dealing with high-profile corporate clients and gaining exposure to a wide range of regulatory matters.

The firm offers agile working, with the expectation of two days per week in the firm’s West Midlands based office. Core working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, but some flexibility is required to meet client needs and court deadlines.

The successful candidate will benefit from a supportive environment, opportunities for professional development, and exposure to high-quality, complex legal work.
