Crew Manager Promotions Board Process – North Wales Fire and Rescue Service

Crew Manager: £41,322 (development) per annum.
Crew Manager: £43,104 (competent) per annum. (exclusive of allowances that may be applicable dependent on role). Open to internal and external candidates.

Applications are invited from substantive wholetime Crew Managers (external) and substantive and competent wholetime Firefighters. Existing internal Crew Managers who wish to change their current role should submit an internal transfer request form, which will be considered as part of this process.

Posts are available across the Service and candidates should indicate the posts they would be willing to accept on the associated location preference form.

Eligibility and Applications
  • Substantive wholetime Crew Managers (external) and substantive and competent wholetime Firefighters are eligible to apply.
  • Existing internal Crew Managers who wish to change their current role should submit an internal transfer request form, considered as part of this process.
Selection Process and Criteria
  • Applicants must read the application guidance notes and provide evidence against all of the essential criteria in the Application Form. Only those meeting all essential criteria will be shortlisted for interview.
  • Shortlisted candidates will deliver a 15-minute presentation (topic advised within confirmation of shortlisting) and will be questioned on the presentation and role requirements.
  • A simulated Incident Command assessment will be undertaken for candidates unable to demonstrate satisfactory evidence of operational assurance or formal assessment within the last 12 months.
  • Welsh Language skills at level 2 are required. Existing employees must demonstrate prior achievement of this level on application; external candidates who cannot demonstrate this at application must achieve it within the probation period, with support provided as appropriate.
Timing

Interviews will be held over two weeks commencing from 6 October 2025. If candidates are unable to attend on the scheduled date, the Service may make alternative arrangements within this two-week timeframe only.
