In this role, you'll leverage your expertise in risk and analytics to assess emerging risk trends and external market conditions, helping to enhance and evolve our credit risk management strategies. You will also play a key part in supporting our Homes mortgage business to enable our key business strategies.

The Credit Risk Oversight team, of 15 individuals, is part of the Group Risk function. Our core role is to support our purpose to help more people to have a home, by applying a proactive and sustainable risk management approach. We work across the Society and more specifically, we support our Homes Business. We encourage individuals to make decisions and challenge the status quo - to ensure long-term financial resilience and a risk aware culture.

What Will You Be Doing?

Step into a pivotal role where your expertise in credit risk will shape key decisions and drive meaningful impact. As a Credit Risk Analyst, you will

  • Collaborate & Innovate - Work flexibly within the Credit Risk Oversight team, supporting colleagues and contributing to departmental priorities that align with the Corporate Plan.

  • Unlock the Power of Data - Write and run code (SAS, Python, SQL) while utilizing analytical tools such as PowerBI to extract insights, optimise processes and enhance management information.

  • Deliver Smart Solutions - Apply advanced analytical techniques to assess risk, interpret outcomes and recommend strategies that strengthen our credit risk management.

  • Communicate with Impact - Present complex technical findings in a clear, engaging manner to stakeholders, ensuring insights drive well-informed decisions.

  • Influence Key Committees - Play a role in shaping analysis and papers that inform senior leaders and strategic discussions.

  • Expand Your Expertise - Be involved in critical areas from mortgage lending decisions and product design to credit management activities, deepening your knowledge of regulation, policy and risk modelling.

What Do We Need From You?

About You

Experience

  • Ideally have experience of working in a risk or lending environment.

  • Experience of working in an analytical role.

Skills

  • Highly numerate.

  • Experience of using code to analyse and interpret data.

  • Ability to manipulate, understand and interpret data.

  • Ability to think in a structured and logical manner.

  • Good ability to analyse and understand trends in data, articulate this and turn it into real solutions.

  • Sound working knowledge of MS Excel.

  • Good communication and time management skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical issues in a clear and concise manner.

  • Keen to learn and develop within an analytical environment.

  • Ability to work flexibly in a team environment.

  • Manage own elements of work.

Knowledge

  • An awareness of the requirements of mortgage related regulation.

  • An understanding of Financial Services sector.
