Job Description:
  1. What you will do:
    • Collaborate with a team of credit underwriters to underwrite Corporate Banking propositions from the Structured Finance team, including Net Asset Value lending and Private Equity sponsored lending.
    • Coach colleagues to support First Line of Defence colleagues in the Metro Bank way.
    • Work with senior management, influencing teams across Credit and the wider Bank, coaching and developing less experienced colleagues.
    • Maintain asset quality when originating new exposures and managing existing portfolios, ensuring compliance with bank policies.
    • Operate with flexibility and resilience in a pressured environment to help achieve growth objectives.
    • Inspire colleagues to lend the Metro Bank way, focusing on understanding repayment sources and sectoral knowledge.
    • Present and critique complex lending propositions for review by higher authorities.
    • Contribute to Credit Policy, Standards, and Procedures development in a dynamic environment.
    • Promote responsible risk management and call out concerns when necessary.
  2. What you will need:
    • Understanding of risks associated with your role and their impact on stakeholders.
    • Experience in Commercial / Corporate Credit Underwriting, including Net Asset Value and/or Private Equity sponsored lending.
    • Experience as a Credit Partner, Relationship Manager, or in distressed debt management.
    • Excellent stakeholder management and engagement skills.
    • Knowledge of Commercial lending, banking, and relevant legal concepts.
    • Problem-solving and negotiation skills.
    • Broader commercial, corporate, and economic awareness.
