A leading financial services provider is seeking a Credit Operations Manager to enhance their underwriting operations in Slough. A well-established, fast-growing financial services provider, that's going through an exciting phase of development and innovation is looking for a Credit Operations Manager to lead their underwriting operations - someone who can blend strategic oversight with hands-on team leadership.
This is an opportunity to take full ownership of the underwriting operation, ensuring proposals are assessed efficiently, fairly, and in line with both policy and regulatory obligations.
Location Slough - hybrid working
Key elements of the role include:
Leading and supporting a team of underwriters, ensuring credit decisions meet risk appetite and SLA targets.
Managing day-to-day operations of proposal queues and resolving escalations from dealers and internal teams.
Working closely with Compliance to undertake quality sampling and ensure regulatory standards (KYC, AML, Vulnerability etc.) are met.
Partnering with IT and vendors to enhance underwriting workflows and tune decisioning systems (Genus experience a bonus!).
Supporting the tuning and testing of credit scorecards (retail and commercial).
Generating and analysing performance reports in collaboration with MI teams.
Reporting directly into the Credit Director and playing a key role in departmental strategy.
Skills/experience required
Solid experience in underwriting, credit operations or credit risk, with at least 2 years managing people.
Deep understanding of credit policy, scorecards, affordability, and risk-based decisioning.
Experience with credit systems (e.g., Genus) and a track record of improving workflows or SLAs.
Working knowledge of FCA regulations - CONC, AML, Vulnerability, etc.
Excellent communication skills and a calm, confident approach to managing escalations and stakeholder relationships.
