Role Summary

This new position is for an experienced Technology Manager & Engineering Lead for SMBC EMEA Risk Management domain, focusing initially on Credit, Operations, and Non-Financial Risk Types. The applicant should demonstrate understanding of corporate and investment banking products, processes, risk management disciplines, and have a proven track record of designing and implementing modern technology and data solutions compliant with relevant regulations, following DevSecOps and Agile principles. This role requires a mature Risk Technology professional who will work collaboratively with SMBC IT, Risk Management, Data Management, Front Office, and other areas, playing an active leadership role within the EMEA Cross-Product Platforms Technology team.

Business Area

The EMEA Risk Management Technology team is part of the wider Cross-Product Platforms IT function under the EMEA CIO. Key stakeholders include EMEA Risk Managers (2nd Line of Defense), Credit, and Front Office teams.

Position Description

The role holder will be responsible for:

• IT Product/Platform/Application/Service Ownership for Credit, Operational, and other Non-Financial Risk Systems used across SMBC in the EMEA region.
• Design, delivery, and provision of EMEA Risk IT in-house systems (platforms and applications) and vendor software solutions, including integration into the SMBC infrastructure, meeting internal policies, standards, and controls.
• Line management and matrix management of Business, Data, and Technical Analysts, Developers, and other IT staff responsible for design, build, testing, implementation, and support of Risk IT solutions across various Risk Types.
• Collaboration and input into the delivery of Market, Liquidity, and Counterparty Risk solutions used across all EMEA entities.
• Management of relationships with external vendors and internal SMBC IT teams to deliver technology architecture and integration aligned with EMEA and Global IT and Data strategies from the Risk Management perspective.
