Credit Manager – Property Development Finance

The Company:

Role Purpose:

As a Credit Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the credit quality of new loans using the Company’s Credit Models and Policies, ensuring lenders do not take undue risk. Extensive development finance knowledge and experience are required.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to sanction limits as per the company’s sanctioning matrix.
  • Assist in developing and recommending loan policies and establishing internal controls.
  • Ensure all credit reports comply with policies.
  • Report exceptions and provide recommendations.
  • Advise on concentration risks and suggest mitigants.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to policies and processes.
  • Stay updated on rates, activities, and regulatory issues.
  • Maintain risk controls daily.
  • Conduct pre-application discussions with Relationship Directors.
  • Participate in Deal Forum and Borrower Review Forum.
  • Respond to pricing requests within SLAs.
  • Review sighting papers and credit reports for approval or alternative terms.
  • Respond to lender questions via website Q&A.
  • Coordinate with the deal team to ensure timely loan progression.
  • Verify loan agreements for compliance before release.
  • Ensure all conditions precedent are met before drawdown.
  • Attend relevant departmental meetings.
  • Monitor post-deal performance and updates.
  • Provide redemption figures and loan statements.
  • Attend client meetings when appropriate.
  • Train and support new staff.

Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • Extensive property development funding credit experience.
  • Ability to make informed decisions on new deals.
  • Commercial awareness of the wider business.
  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Good communication skills internally and externally.
  • Understanding of how credit issues impact the business.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Organizational skills and workflow responsibility.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • GCSE level education or equivalent.
  • Experience in FCA-regulated environments.
  • Experience in similar financial services roles.
  • Excellent knowledge of loan, security, and financial documents.
