Credit Hire Paralegal

Manchester – £22,000 - £25,000

An award-winning, renowned firm is hiring in their Manchester office for a paralegal in their Credit Hire team. The successful candidate will ideally have credit hire file handling experience.

The role will entail handling a varied caseload of defendant Credit Hire claims. The successful candidate will work in a team dedicated to dealing with a number of the UK's largest insurer clients and will report directly to the Team Leader regarding day-to-day tasks.

The team currently enjoys hybrid working, being in the office 2 days and 3 days at home.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assisting a varied caseload of litigated claims (Small Claims Track, Fast Track, and Multi-track).
  2. Drafting all court documents.
  3. Instruction of Counsel and experts where appropriate.
  4. Assessing liability and quantum and preparing reports/advice.
  5. Making and responding to offers and negotiating settlement of both liability and quantum as necessary.
  6. Managing client MI expectations and SLA requirements.
  7. Negotiating fixed recoverable costs and disbursements.
Experience and Skills Required
  • Ideally have some Credit Hire experience and preferably from a defendant background; candidates from a claimant background will also be considered.
  • Experience handling own caseload is required for this role.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle high volumes of work.
  • The ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
