Job description

Join us as a Credit Analyst, Securitisation Credit Risk

  • This is an opportunity to start or develop your career in credit risk, working alongside experienced credit professionals in a specialist securitisation team
  • You'll build your analytical and credit skills by supporting the assessment of a range of structured lending transactions
  • Through structured training, practical experience and mentoring, you will take increasing ownership of credit assessments and work towards gaining an appropriate level of delegated credit authority
  • We're looking for someone with strong analytical potential, intellectual curiosity and the motivation to develop into a well-rounded credit professional
What you'll do

You'll develop the skills to support the assessment and sanctioning of credit solutions within the bank’s risk appetite, helping to ensure that underwriting is consistent, disciplined and focused on the key risks.

Working with senior colleagues, you'll:

  • Undertake high-quality risk assessments across a range of lending requests
  • Analyse financial, structural and qualitative information to identify the material credit risks
  • Support the preparation of clear, concise and evidence-based credit recommendations
  • Consider customer needs and impacts throughout the risk assessment process, supporting fair customer outcomes
  • Monitor transactions and compliance with agreed terms, risk appetite and credit conditions
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver responses within agreed deadlines
  • Develop knowledge of securitisation structures, credit policies, legal documentation and risk frameworks
  • Contribute to improvements in the procedures used to apply credit policy to securitisation transactions
  • Support senior colleagues in reviewing product and asset-class risk appetite, increasingly providing analysis and constructive challenge as your experience develops
  • As your capability grows, you'll take greater ownership of individual credit assessments, lead engagement on transactions and build the judgement required to exercise delegated credit authority
The skills you'll need

You'll be comfortable working with numerical and written information, including material that may initially be unfamiliar or incomplete. You will be able to work through the detail while stepping back to identify the key issues and reach a clear, reasoned conclusion.

Some experience in banking, credit, audit, accounting, treasury or financial analysis is required. A related degree or professional qualification would also be beneficial, although we are equally interested in candidates who can demonstrate the relevant capabilities through other experience.

Previous securitisation or credit sanctioning experience is not essential, but candidates should demonstrate a basic understanding of securitisation and a clear interest in developing their knowledge.

You'll need either a relevant formal banking qualification, equivalent professional experience, or a commitment to complete an appropriate qualification following appointment and maintain it through continuous professional development.

You'll also demonstrate:

  • Strong analytical and numerical reasoning
  • The ability to identify the important issues within complex information
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Intellectual curiosity and a genuine willingness to learn
  • Sound judgement and an evidence-based approach to decision-making
  • Confidence to ask questions and provide constructive challenge
  • Strong attention to detail, organisation and personal ownership
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
  • An interest in credit risk, financial markets or structured finance
