Job summary

The Cambian Group is seeking a dedicated Psychotherapist/Therapist to join our Complex Trauma Service housing team across Shrewsbury, Wolverhampton, and Walsall, with occasional travel to Tamworth. You will deliver trauma-informed therapy to children aged 5–12 within residential homes, providing direct therapy and staff consultation.

Qualifications

• A child-centered therapist with a passion for enabling children and young people to achieve positive outcomes.
• Experience as a qualified therapist working with children and young people.
• Registered with the relevant professional bodies (e.g., BACP, HCPC).
• Strong teamwork, communication, organisation and time management skills.
• Experience within CAMHS or Looked After Children services, preferably in residential settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed therapy for children and young people.
• Offer staff training, consultation, and direct therapy as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Support staff to develop positive relationships and the wellbeing of children and young people.
• Deliver individual therapy using evidence-based approaches and document outcomes.

• Complex Trauma Service (CTS) Location: Homes in Shrewsbury (3) Wolverhampton (1) and Walsall (1) with occasional travel to Tamworth as required.

Salary: up to £46,178 doe Permanent

• Full Time, 40 hours (p/t may be considered) Reports to: Clinical Lead and Clinical Director This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a growing clinical team as a Therapist supporting children and young people living in our complex trauma homes.

Children living in these homes are between the ages of 5-12 upon arrival, and are most often children with care plans for transition out of residential care, usually for reunification with birth family or into a foster family.

The Complex Trauma Service is part of the Cambian Group; the UK’s largest provider of specialist services in children’s residential care, education, mental health and learning disability services.

The post will require someone with previous experience of working as a qualified therapist with children and young people in a CAMHS or related setting and specifically within Looked After Children’s services.

Job Role You will be providing a trauma informed therapeutic service for children and young people through staff training, consultation, individual assessment and direct therapy.

The therapist will support staff to build positive and healthy relationships with young people to enable them to grow, develop and achieve their full potential through the use of a range of therapeutic approaches such as DDP, PACE, Therapeutic Parenting etc.

This role will require you to work holistically to help staff develop the children and young people’s wellbeing, independence and social and emotional resiliency, as part of the consultative model and with a multi-disciplinary approach with other professionals involved.

You will also be expected to provide individual therapy utilising trauma informed evidence-based approaches.
