Job description

University of the Arts London (UAL) is seeking an experienced policy and public affairs professional to join our Policy and Advocacy team as a Creative Industries Policy Manager.

Role Overview

Based in the Social Purpose Lab, you will help position UAL as a thought leader in Creative Industries policy. Your responsibilities include developing the team’s Creative Industries policy brief and managing key policy priorities such as:

  1. Creative Industries growth, including collaborations with the Government on industrial strategy
  2. AI and the Creative Industries
  3. Skill gaps in the Creative Industries
  4. Green and future skills agendas
  5. The UK as a creative superpower

You will also build relationships with external stakeholders including MPs, Peers, Civil Servants, and Advisers, and support academic engagement with policymakers.

Candidate Profile

You should have experience in public policy campaigns, policy brief management, and supporting senior staff. Skills required include formulating responses to government consultations, writing policy reports, horizon scanning, monitoring, and conducting successful meetings. A strong understanding of the UK political system, public policy environment, and knowledge of the Creative Industries and higher education is essential. Excellent communication skills for conveying complex policy messages clearly are also required.
