Job summary

MK College Group are recruiting an English Tutor to join the team at HMP Fosse Way, Leicester. You will teach English from Entry level to Level 2, engaging prison-based students with creative classes and resources.

The role may involve outreach work and developing your own schemes of work with guidance from a senior practitioner. You will build professional relationships, assess and track progress, and support learners to gain qualifications while developing confidence and softer skills for

• Has experience or strong knowledge in Functional Skills English or related fields.
• Can engage and motivate learners with diverse needs and experiences.
• Understands the value of Functional skills in supporting long-term independence.
• Builds positive, professional relationships and supports learner success.

• Is organised and confident in assessment, tracking progress, and meeting awarding-body standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver creative English classes to prison-based students (Entry level to Level 2).
• Create and implement schemes of work and session plans with guidance from senior colleagues.
• Engage with learners with diverse needs and experiences to support progression.
• Potential outreach work outside the main classroom setting.
• Support learners to gain qualifications and develop confidence and employability skills.

About the role

MK College Group have an exciting new opportunity for a creative English Tutor, to join the team based at HMP Fosse Way, Leicester. (English will be offered from Entry level to Level 2) As an English Tutor, you will be actively engaging prison-based students with creative classes and resources. Many of the students have a diverse range of needs and learning abilities, they will often have had a negative experience with education. As a successful English Teacher, you will truly inspire them and provide students with a positive learning experience. This role may involve outreach work outside of the main classroom setting. You will be connecting with students in a professional manner, supporting them with their learning, enabling them to achieve success through not only qualifications, but developing the confidence and softer skills that they can apply to employment as well as other areas of education. You will also have the opportunity to create your own scheme of work and session plans, where you will be given time to create them, working alongside the advanced practitioner for advice on quality.
