BBC StoryWorks is the award-winning commercial brand studio within BBC Studios, responsible for developing, producing, and delivering content-led commercial campaigns across our international digital and television news offer, as well as representing other BBC brands as required. This includes commercial brand films, digital creative, podcasts, written content, events, and editorial sponsorship packaging. As a key player in content-led commercial campaigns, StoryWorks offers the opportunity to create meaningful, multi-platform storytelling for international audiences across digital, television, audio, and experiential formats.

We are seeking a Creative Director for EMEA to shape the creative vision for the region, leading a team of producers, editors, writers, and designers. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on creative execution, working on high-profile branded content aligned with the BBC's editorial integrity and reputation. The role involves collaboration across Strategy, Project Management, Sales, Marketing, and Compliance, mentoring creatives, and exploring innovative storytelling methods using BBC's extensive platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set the creative vision for all StoryWorks EMEA's commercial content, ensuring quality and alignment with client goals and BBC guidelines.
  • Lead production and originate distinctive multi-platform branded content for EMEA clients reflecting diverse audiences.
  • Provide leadership, motivate, and support the creative team of producers, editors, writers, and designers.
  • Coordinate effectively with other teams, departments, suppliers, and partners, maintaining excellent relationships.
  • Represent the VP of StoryWorks, Europe, and VP of Content, Middle East & Africa, contributing to team strategy.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, champion innovation, and identify opportunities for content partnerships.
  • Uphold BBC values and quality standards, representing the commercial face of the BBC brand.
Essential Experience and Skills:
  • Extensive experience in a creative leadership role, preferably within a branded content studio or agency.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, pitch, and execute ideas across multiple platforms and industries.
  • Strong film and video production experience in branded content, advertising, or editorial capacities, with leadership skills to solve problems effectively.
  • Ability to lead pitches and present creative ideas convincingly to external partners and clients.
  • Excellent communication skills to craft compelling narratives and mentor teams.
Desired Skills:
  • Client-facing experience and presentation skills.
  • Experience leading global production efforts, managing shoot days to ensure creative excellence.
  • Background in journalism or editorial teams is a plus.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with external partners, ensuring BBC StoryWorks is regarded as a reputable client and partner.
