The Roundhouse in London seeks a Creative Director to shape its artistic vision and year-round programming with contemporary music at its heart, complemented by cross-arts and digital work.
You will champion youth voice, co-creation and partnerships, balance artistic ambition with commercial sustainability, and sit on the Executive Team, guiding teams and artists at all career stages.
The Roundhouse is an iconic music and performing arts venue and the UK’s largest creative youth centre. Founded as a charity in 2006, it brings artists, audiences and young people together through live events, youth programmes, creative studios and opportunities to develop talent and careers.
The Roundhouse is now seeking a Creative Director to lead the next chapter of its artistic vision and creative programming identity. This is an opportunity to shape a distinctive, commercially ambitious year-round offer with contemporary music at its heart, complemented by cross-arts activity and digital work.
As the organisation develops its 10-Year Strategy, the Creative Director will help ensure its creative work reflects contemporary culture, reaches new audiences and supports the Roundhouse’s charitable purpose.
Working closely with the Chief Executive and Youth Director, the Creative Director will make youth voice, participation and co-creation an integral part of the programme. They will champion artists at every career stage, creating space for experimentation, ambitious work and new talent.
They will also balance artistic ambition with commercial performance, audience development and financial sustainability, as a member of the Executive Team.
We are looking for an experienced creative leader with a substantial track record in programming, producing, curation or artistic direction in a significant music-led, live performance or cultural organisation. You will understand contemporary music and live performance, and have the judgement to develop ambitious programmes that can be delivered at scale.
You will bring experience of supporting artists, building partnerships and leading teams, alongside a commitment to inclusive practice and the value of youth participation in cultural programming.
The Roundhouse’s executive search partner for this appointment is AEM International.
The deadline for applications is 5pm on Monday 30th November 2026.
The Roundhouse welcomes applications from people with a wide range of skills, experiences and ideas, particularly those currently underrepresented in the cultural sector. Please let us know if you require adjustments to the recruitment process.
