Motorway is the UK’s fastest-growing used car marketplace – our award-winning, online-only platform connects private car sellers with thousands of verified dealers nationwide, ensuring everyone gets the best deal. Founded in 2017, our technology-led approach has redefined the experience of selling a car, generating thousands of monthly car sales and helping us to grow to a team of more than 400 people across our London and Brighton offices.

About the role

We’re looking for a Junior Copywriter to join our growing copy team. Like a set of all season tyres, you’ll be confident on any surface in any condition and have a diverse portfolio of work. From hard working CRM to longform web content. From conceptual ads, to engaging social posts. You’ll answer briefs in the unique Motorway tone of voice, shifting gears to match either B2B dealer and B2C consumer audience.

If there was an SEO highway code, you’d know it back to front and have a spotless record of spelling and grammar as you cruise through web articles. Creativity is the engine that powers your craft. And you’re open to trying new ways to break through.

You’re as confident on a solo road trip, working independently to answer a brief but also love sharing the journey with the design team to help every brief across the finish line with style as well as great results.

What you’ll be doing:

  1. Reporting to our Lead Copywriter, the Junior Copywriter will work in our growing copywriting team, working on a variety of writing styles to match our seller and dealer audiences.
  2. You will flex our brand of tone of voice across multiple communication channels including CRM, ad copy, and onsite content as required.
  3. You’ll receive clear briefs, and respond to them with unique, compelling copy that enhances the experience of our customers, dealers and partners.
  4. A self-driven, independent worker, you will write copy yourself, and edit and hone copy created by other people across the business.
  5. Your copy and content will adhere to best practices for CRM and SEO as required.
  6. Your copy will always be to the highest standards – being accurate, well-researched, and incorporating customer insight. At times, quick turnarounds will be required – so an ability to deliver at pace will be key.
  7. You’ll take feedback well, and work to build an understanding of the messaging that is central to Motorway’s commercial proposition.
  8. You will actively continue to build your knowledge of the automotive industry and the used car market, taking advantage of in-house learning opportunities.
  9. You’ll ensure you have robust customer and competitor awareness, so that Motorway always remains relevant, distinct, and competitive in the market.

Requirements

  1. Experience developing concepts and creating a range of copy, executed across a variety of marketing channels and touchpoints, with demonstrable evidence of the positive impact your writing has had, on engagement, or SEO metrics.
  2. Experience of writing in a digitally-native brand voice.
  3. Strong customer and commercial focus, determined to create value for our customers, brand, and business.
  4. An understanding of copy trends and best practices, and the ability to think visually and write in a variety of styles and tones across different channels – including email campaigns, in-product marketing, SEO content, and more.
  5. An excellent communicator, and a strong relationship builder, with an ability to simplify complexity and take people with you.
  6. An ability to respond to short-term requests as well as planned work, prioritising your workload and managing briefs.
  7. Enthusiasm to join a growing team that collaborates with every department in the company.
  8. Experience or interest in the car industry and working for a tech company is preferred, but not essential.
