Job summary

Checkout.com in London HQ is seeking a dynamic Commercial Counsel (3–7 PQE) to own the commercial contract pipeline, draft, negotiate and close customer and partner agreements. You will draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including customised customer contracts, strategic partnerships and supplier contracts.

This role requires strong post-qualification experience, excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor/lawyer with 3–7 PQE and post-qualification experience either in-house or in private practice.
• Experience in FinTech, payments, software, e-commerce and/or bank sectors is desirable but not essential.
• Experience working internationally and on cross-border matters.
• Excellent time management and ability to handle a diverse workload with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements including customer contracts, strategic partnerships and supplier agreements.
• Resolve contract interpretation issues arising during negotiations.
• Produce and maintain standard agreements (e.g., NDA, supplier and customer agreements).
• Advise on special projects and new product developments while considering legal and regulatory impact.
• Advise on commercial legal issues and risks and conduct multi-jurisdictional legal research.

Our Legal team in London is growing We're hiring for a dynamic and creative Commercial Counsel in our London HQ. As we continue to scale globally, we are looking for a proactive lawyer (3-7 PQE) to own commercial contract pipeline and drafting, negotiating, and closing everything from strategic partner deals to core customer agreements. How you'll make an impact:

• You will draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements, including customised customer contracts, strategic partnerships and supplier contracts.
• Resolve legal issues and contract interpretation matters that arise during negotiations.
• Produce and/or maintain various standard agreements (e.g. NDA, supplier and customer agreements etc.).
• Advise on special projects as needed, including new product developments, while taking into consideration their legal and regulatory impact.
• Advise on commercial legal issues and risks.
• Conduct research on various multijurisdictional legal issues.
• Support the company's strategic projects and initiatives by providing creative, proactive and results-oriented advice.
  
• Qualified solicitor/lawyer (3-7 PQE) with strong post-qualification experience either in-house or in private practice.
• Previous FinTech, payments, software, e-commerce and/or bank experience is desirable but not essential.
• Experience working in a start-up or other fast-paced and dynamic environment is desirable but not essential.
• Experience working internationally and on a variety of cross-border matters.
• Excellent time management skills and experience managing a diverse workload and competing stakeholder demands.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as needed, flexing the approach as the matter requires.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate and explain complex legal issues clearly and concisely.
