Hours: Full time (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday) or part time (16 hours per week, Monday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Friday), depending on the candidate.

Purpose:

Botton Creamery processes milk from our farm into cheese and other dairy products, producing around 10 tonnes of cheese annually. Creamery Assistants are essential for production, quality assurance, and sales of our award-winning cheese. This physically demanding role requires attention to detail and the ability to work in a complex food production environment. It also involves covering the adjacent food production area where we process liquid milk and other products.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Production, Quality, and Efficiency:
  • Process milk into products according to company specifications, overseeing machinery used in cheese and dairy production.
  • Perform all food preparation tasks efficiently and professionally.
  • Ensure quality assurance at all production stages to maintain product safety and consistency.
  • Prepare, weigh, and measure ingredients for production.
  • Meet all time-sensitive production activities.
  • Adhere to organic standards as set by the certifying body.
  • Contribute to maintaining the high standard of Botton Creamery products.
  • Manage cheese maturation to meet product specifications.
  • Assist in developing new products aligned with the Creamery's investment plans.
Health and Food Safety:
  • Manual handling: lifting equipment and ingredients, moulding cheese, moving cheese wheels, shelving, and packing for dispatch.
  • Follow cleaning rotas consistently.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the Creamery building.
  • Accurately label products from production to sale.
  • Perform PPE maintenance and general maintenance to ensure a safe, clean, and attractive working environment.
Communication and Customer Service:
  • Support the Creamery Manager in training new staff.
  • Provide excellent customer service for retail and wholesale customers, including order taking and organizing couriers.
  • Cut, wrap, and box cheeses for customers.
Person Specification:
  • Basic math skills for calculations and measurements.
  • Training in food safety practices and regulations.
  • HACCP certification for manufacturing.
  • Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities.
