Job description

UKR Group is looking for an experienced Crane Supervisor to start ASAP in a job in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and coordinate all lifting operations on site to ensure they are carried out safely and efficiently.
  • Supervise crane operators, slingers, signallers, and other lifting personnel to maintain compliance with lifting plans and regulations.
  • Conduct pre-lift meetings and ensure that all team members are briefed on the lifting plan, safety procedures, and communication methods.
  • Inspect lifting equipment and accessories before use, reporting any defects or issues immediately.
  • Liaise with site management, appointed persons, and health and safety officers to plan and monitor lifting activities.
  • Ensure all lifting operations are carried out in accordance with current legislation, company policies, and risk assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records of lifting operations, inspections, and incidents.
  • Manage and enforce site safety, ensuring that all workers adhere to safe systems of work.
  • Assist in the development and review of method statements and risk assessments for lifting operations.
  • Respond promptly to any operational challenges or safety concerns that may arise during crane operations.
Skills:
  • Excellent understanding of lifting operations, crane types, and load handling techniques.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory abilities, with the capacity to manage teams effectively.
  • Thorough knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation and LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations).
  • Ability to interpret lifting plans, technical drawings, and load charts accurately.
  • Good communication and coordination skills, with the ability to give clear instructions.
  • High level of attention to detail and situational awareness on busy construction sites.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Competence in record keeping and reporting.
Requirements:
  • CPCS Crane Supervisor (A62) Certification
  • Demonstrable experience in crane supervision and lifting operations within the construction or civil engineering sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of safe lifting practices and site safety standards.
  • Full understanding of relevant legislation, including LOLER, PUWER, and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Own tools and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
