Job summary

Freightliner is seeking a Crane Maintenance Engineer at Dock Gate 20, Southampton. You will be responsible for maintaining Rail Mounted Gantry cranes and related equipment, ensuring high availability and safe operations. The role requires an electrical background and PLC experience, with 12‑hour rotating shifts and a safety‑critical status.

Qualifications

• Must have electrical apprenticeship or NVQ3 equivalent.
• Must have AC/DC motor and drives experience.
• Must have PLC experience – Siemens S7, Codesys.

Responsibilities

• Manage, maintain and carry out all designated engineering activities including Rail Mounted Gantry cranes and plant equipment, maximizing asset availability.
• Organise and carry out the programme of engineering examinations, maintenance events, fault finding, diagnostics and repairs as per maintenance procedures.
• Update and maintain accurate records of maintenance, defects and repairs.
• Fully utilise Freightliner IT systems relevant to the scope of work.
• Participate in training and development of apprentices.
• Work flexibly within skillset and assist with tasks as directed.
