Job summary

Ainscough Crane Hire in Stockton is seeking a skilled Fabricator, Welder & Vehicle Body Repairer to join the refurb centre. You will refurbish and repair crane fleet and related equipment, reading drawings and fabricating components to high standards.

Based in Stockton with occasional travel to other sites for specialist fabrication work. You will work under the Maintenance Supervisor to keep equipment in top condition, adhering to safety and quality controls.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship in fabrication, welding or vehicle body repair (minimum 3 years).
• Strong MIG, TIG and argon arc welding experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings with tight tolerances.
• Hands-on experience with bending machines, drills, saws and other workshop equipment.
• Competence with cutting methods such as oxy/acetylene and plasma.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out refurbishment and repair work across crane fleet and ancillary equipment.
• Support special projects including structural fabrication beyond standard repairs.
• Collaborate with Workshop Supervisor and Manager to deliver high-quality work.
• Ensure all tasks meet safety and quality standards at all times.
• Help ensure vehicles leaving depot are safe, compliant and road-ready.
