The CPT I must meet the state regulatory certification requirements to work in the clinical laboratory. The Certified Phlebotomy Technician I primarily performs skin puncture or venipuncture on patients of all ages to obtain blood specimens for analysis in the clinical laboratory, under the supervision of the Laboratory Director/Manager/Supervisor.
