Job Opportunity: Senior Underwriter - CPRI UK & Europe

The position is for a Senior Underwriter within the CPRI UK & Europe operation. The role involves supporting the growth and profitability of the CPRI portfolio through underwriting and relationship management with London & International Brokers and clients.

Responsibilities & Competencies

• Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet underwriting targets, analyzing trends and implementing improvement plans to maintain profitability.
• Negotiate account participation, pricing, and terms with brokers.
• Ensure underwriting aligns with CPRI Global frameworks, including authorities, guidelines, rules, and principles.
• Support the development and execution of global underwriting and marketing strategies.
• Collaborate with the Head of Political Risk, UK & Europe, and the Global Head of CPRI to develop opportunities and maintain a balanced portfolio.
• Identify and develop new products and expand into new geographic territories for the CPRI book.
• Support acquisition and retention of business through market and client meetings, including UK and overseas travel.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and insureds.
• Support coaching and development of underwriting assistants and underwriters to foster a high-performing team.

• Willingness to develop knowledge of CPRI and related issues through continuous learning.
• Ability to prioritize, organize workload, and meet deadlines.
• Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.

Experience

• Relevant underwriting experience in the international CPRI marketplace, ideally within a multi-line property and casualty insurer, Export Credit Agency, or related trade and export finance fields.
• Understanding of the CPRI insurance market, trade finance structures, and political risk insurance.
• Knowledge of emerging and frontier market economic, political, and credit issues.
• Strong process management skills, including prioritization and effective communication of project status.
• Team-oriented with the ability to build cross-organizational relationships.
• Technical expertise in underwriting, including wording, regulatory environment, and financial analysis.
