GSL Education are seeking a committed and adaptable Cover Teacher to work in a mainstream secondary school located in Southampton, Hampshire. This role is ideal for individuals looking to step into education, whether you're a recent graduate, an experienced educator between roles, or exploring a career change. As a Cover Teacher, you will step into the classroom during teacher absences, ensuring a smooth continuation of learning using prepared lesson plans. This position offers flexibility, the chance to engage with a variety of subjects, and a competitive daily rate of £94 - £140 depending on experience.

As a Cover Teacher, your responsibilities will be:

• Delivering lessons across the curriculum using provided resources in the teacher's absence
• Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment
• Supporting students with their learning and promoting engagement in class activities
• Following the school’s safeguarding and behaviour policies consistently
• Reporting any concerns regarding student welfare or academic progress
• Encouraging student participation and independence
• Liaising with other teaching staff to ensure continuity of learning
• Taking on supervisory roles during lunch, break times, or transitions when necessary

Cover Teacher Requirements:

• Previous experience working with secondary school-aged children or young people
• QTS or equivalent teaching qualification or experience working as a Cover Teacher or a secondary school teacher is desirable
• Strong classroom presence with effective communication and behaviour management skills
• Flexible, dependable, and enthusiastic about supporting education
• Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
