Job summary

Cadbury College is seeking a confident Cover Teacher to join the Curriculum team on a temporary, term-time-only basis until December. You will step into various classrooms, delivering prepared materials while maintaining a positive, inclusive learning environment for sixth form students.

Ideal candidates will have teaching qualifications, strong classroom management, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing timetables and subjects.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or equivalent
• A teaching qualification or recognised classroom-based qualification
• Experience of supporting learning or delivering activities to students/young people

Job description

Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them stay engaged and focused in their learning? Cadbury College is looking for a confident, enthusiastic and adaptable Cover Teacher to join our Curriculum team on a temporary, term-time-only basis until December.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with sixth form students and can confidently step into different classroom environments, subjects and year groups. You will play an important role in ensuring learning continues effectively in the absence of the usual teacher, delivering prepared lesson materials and activities while maintaining a positive, purposeful and inclusive classroom environment.

You will need to be calm, professional and confident in your approach, with strong classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues. No two days will necessarily be the same, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys variety and can respond positively to changing circumstances.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide effective and high-quality cover for lessons across a range of subjects and year groups
• Deliver lesson materials, activities and instructions provided by teaching staff
• Ensure students understand the work set and make effective use of lesson time
• Maintain a positive, purposeful and inclusive classroom environment
• Demonstrate strong classroom management and maintain high standards of student behaviour
• Adapt confidently to different subjects, classes, year groups and learning environments
• Build positive and professional relationships with students, teaching staff and colleagues
• Monitor student engagement, participation and progress during lessons
• Follow College policies and procedures, including safeguarding, health and safety and equality, diversity and inclusion requirements
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people within the College environment

Skills, Knowledge And Expertise

• A relevant teaching, education or subject-related qualification
• Minimum GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4, Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent
• A teaching qualification or recognised classroom-based qualification
• Experience of supporting learning and/or delivering activities to students or young people
• Experience of managing classroom or group behaviour effectively
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues
• The ability to adapt quickly to changing timetables, subjects, classes and requirements
• Good IT skills and confidence using relevant digital and classroom technologies
• A calm, confident and professional manner, with a genuine commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion
• Experience of working within a sixth form or Further Education environment would be advantageous
