Salary:
£90 – £130 per day (£450 - £650 per week, PAYE – no umbrella faff!)
In Newcastle’s busy secondary schools, no two days are the same. Schools need confident people who can step in and keep things running smoothly – and that’s where you come in.
With us you’ll get:

This role is perfect if you enjoy leading a classroom but without the planning and marking.
Step into the classroom with confidence: You’ll be covering lessons for absent teachers, keeping learning on track.
Follow pre-prepared lesson resources: No planning required – your focus is on delivery and engagement.
Create a positive learning environment: Keep students focused, explain tasks clearly, and maintain calm, fair discipline.
Build relationships quickly: Secondary pupils respect someone who’s firm but approachable – that’s you.
Every day is different: You might be in English in the morning and Science after lunch. It’s variety at its best!
If you’re patient, understanding and enjoy helping pupils one-to-one, this is the role for you.
Support pupils 1:1 or in small groups: Help students who need an extra boost with their work.
Assist with learning and routines: From explaining tricky tasks to helping students stay organised and confident.
Be a role model: Secondary pupils notice calm, steady people – you’ll be someone they trust.
Work closely with teachers and SENCOs: You’ll be part of a team making sure every pupil has what they need to succeed.
See the difference you make: From the small wins (finishing a piece of work) to the big ones (growing confidence across the term).
Experience in schools or with teenagers is desirable, but not essential (youth work, sports coaching, tutoring – all count!)
Calm, confident and ready to think on your feet
Keen to make a difference and be valued for it
