About the role

This is a trainee role so would require a candidate who is passionate, enthusiastic and motivated, and has a willingness to get into education through the Cover Supervisor trainee programme. The programme is run by experienced teachers at Vision for Education and supplies the candidate with all the necessary personal development and support in the role with a placement in a school. The candidate will then be provided with extra support in their career as a cover supervisor.

The role of a Cover Supervisor within a school is to facilitate and support learning whilst managing behaviour in the classroom in the absence of the Subject Teacher. The post holder would require the following characteristics; flexible, adaptable, good subject knowledge across the various subjects, excellent verbal and written skills, an enthusiasm for supporting and teaching in a secondary school of ages 11-16, a willingness to contribute to a school environment and the progress of students.

Candidates with experience with sports coaching, teaching assistants and experience in an education setting would be suitable candidates for the programme. The candidate will have a high level of professionalism and an excellent manner with children and young people.

*This position could be for a person who is keen to become a teacher and wanting more experience within a secondary setting.

About the school

We currently work with a number of schools in and around Bristol supporting their day to day and short-term cover needs and requirements. They expect a high level of professionalism and a good education from their Cover staff. Experience in this field is not essential, however a strong interest in education is and the willingness to undertake types of training to become an experienced cover supervisor.

Requirements

To be considered for the position of Cover Supervisor, you will:

Have experience supporting Secondary Aged Children or willing to gain experience.

Have grades A* - C at GCSE in English, Maths and Science or equivalent

Have a genuine desire to become part of a committed team of cover staff.

Relevant referenceable experience working with children.

Have a passion for education and an interest in taking a teaching or support route.

Be willing to obtain a DBS
