Quantum Scholars are working with a well-regarded secondary school in Portsmouth to recruit a committed and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor for a September 2025 start. This is a full-time position offered on a long-term supply basis, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent role for the right candidate.

This will be a perfect role for someone aspiring to be a teacher or just wanting to gain classroom experience as a Cover Supervisor before undertaking your teacher training!

Role Responsibilities:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will:

• Supervise and manage a classroom during the short-term absence of the assigned teacher

• Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and ensure pupils remain on task

• Promote a positive learning environment and ensure school policies are followed

• Manage student behaviour effectively and respond to incidents in line with the school's behaviour policy

• Report back on student progress and any issues to relevant teaching staff

• Support students with their learning, encouraging engagement and participation

• Take part in training and staff development opportunities as appropriate

Candidate Requirements:

We are looking for individuals who have:

• A strong presence in the classroom with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Experience working with young people, ideally in a school or educational setting

• A calm and professional approach to managing behaviour and building rapport

• The ability to adapt quickly and take initiative in a dynamic school environment
